Transgender Day of Visibility Conference

PFLAG Blue Ridge is one of the co-sponsors of the Transgender Day of Visibility Conference, presented by the Ladies of the Blue Ridge Transgender Alliance. The Conference will feature two nationally-recognized speakers:
Michael Silverman - the executive director of TLDEF (Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund) TLDEF is committed to ending discrimination based upon gender identity and expression and to achieving equality for transgender people through public education, test-case litigation, direct legal services, community organizing and public policy efforts. Michael has worked as an attorney in the LGBT civil rights movement since 1994. In addition to his work at TLDEF, Michael is Adjunct Professor of Law at Earle Mack School of Law at Drexel University and at Fordham University School of Law, where he teaches courses on gender, sexuality and the law. He will present: “We Will Be Free: Legal Developments on the Path to Transgender Rights” http://www.transgenderlegal.org/
Jeanine Rusham - President of TransCentral PA, curators of "Keystone Conference” - third largest TG educational conference in the nation. Jeanine is an excellent example of a proud visible trans-woman who is national recognized and highly sought after for speaking engagements concerning transgender rights, education, equality and policy. http://www.transcentralpa.org/
The conference also features workshops for youth and families, and Q&A with presenters.
